Fontus Hydro was formed in 2017 and purchased three run-of- river hydro plants that same year. The Company currently has 30 megawatts of capacity in operation in Panama and is actively evaluating business opportunities in diverse locations throughout Latin America.
Fontus Hydro’s plants in Panama are run-of-river hydroelectric plants, which is proven, reliable and cost-effective renewable energy generation technology. Our plants are located in one of the wettest regions in Panama, which is favorable for hydropower generation. We continue to evaluate expansion opportunities throughout Latin America with the objective of being a leading owner and operator of small and mid-sized hydroelectric power plants.

Mr. Peters is a veteran energy executive with over 25 years of experience who joined Fontus Hydro in 2017. He sits on the management committee of Fontus Hydro. Prior to joining Fontus Hydro, Mickey spent 20 years with Duke Energy in various executive roles, including President of Duke’s Brazilian subsidiary where he had full P&L responsibility with 300 employees and $1.3B in capital employed. Prior to this, he was responsible for Duke Energy’s Peruvian and Ecuadorian subsidiaries with 200 employees and $550M in capital employed. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting degree from Texas A&M and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Houston.
Mr. Ruecker has been working within affiliates of the company since 2016 and transferred to Fontus Hydro in 2017. Elmar has more than 12 years of experience in project management and evaluation of renewable energy projects in Europe and Latin America with a focus on developing and evaluating hydropower projects. While at Fontin & Co. he led the coordination of several projects throughout the project lifecycle including greenfield development, operations and refurbishment of assets totaling 34 MW across 25 assets. Prior to Fontin, Elmar held several positions for a German bank in the SME and start-up finance industry. He holds a Master degree in economics from the University of Bonn, Germany.
